Today, 8 September 2026, the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTF) proudly marks the 5th Royal Charter Day.
This significant occasion reflects on BTF’s journey from its establishment as a pioneer trust fund in 1996 to becoming a modern, robust and sovereign-guided conservation institution under the 2021 Royal Charter.
The Royal Charter, regranted by His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck on 8 September 2021, strengthened BTF’s legal, financial and strategic foundations to respond to the ecological challenges of the 21st century.
As we celebrate this special occasion, we also reflect on the vision that has guided BTF since its foundation and reaffirm our commitment to our sacred conservation mission, protecting Bhutan’s environment and natural heritage for generations to come.
