The Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTF) visited the Bank of Bhutan Limited (BOBL) on 1 July 2026, to congratulate the bank on its recent accreditation to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) making BOBL the second accredited entity in Bhutan and a major milestone in the country’s capacity to mobilize international climate finance.
During the meeting, both institutions discussed future collaboration on accessing GCF resources and advancing Bhutan’s climate and sustainable development priorities. BOBL expressed appreciation for BTF’s experience in GCF accreditation and project development, and looks forward to drawing on this expertise as it begins its own GCF journey.
The two institutions agreed to work toward a formal collaboration centered on green banking, blended finance, and innovative approaches to climate finance mobilization. BOBL reaffirmed its commitment to scaling up climate finance efforts in Bhutan to support the country’s long-term resilience and sustainable development goals.
BTF congratulates BOBL on this achievement and looks forward to a strong partnership in advancing climate action across Bhutan.
