The Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTF) successfully convened its Annual Grant Stakeholder Consultation 2026–2027 at the BTF Conservation Stewardship Hall.
The consultation brought together 46 participants, including representatives from government agencies, local governments across 19 Dzongkhags, academia, civil society organizations, development partners, and the private sector, participating both in person and virtually. The significant virtual participation by stakeholders across the country reflected Bhutan’s commitment to sustainable and climate-conscious engagement, reducing fuel consumption and travel-related emissions while ensuring inclusive participation.
As BTF explores and identifies priority funding areas for the fiscal year 2026–2027, this annual consultation serves as an important platform for dialogue, collaboration, and collective reflection. The discussions will help ensure that BTF’s grant funding remains responsive to national priorities, the aspirations of Strategic Plan I: BTF Roadmap 2040, and Bhutan’s long-term development vision under the 13th Five-Year Plan.
Participants shared valuable insights and recommendations to strengthen interventions across BTF’s four thematic areas under the PEMA:
- Preserving Biological Diversity
- Enabling Human–Wildlife Coexistence
- Mitigating and Adapting to Climate Change
- Addressing Adverse Impacts of Development
The active engagement and diverse perspectives shared throughout the consultation validated the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships in advancing environmental conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable development in Bhutan.
