The Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTF) is pleased to welcome Ms. Sonam Lhamo as our new Project Officer, effective 1st November 2025. She brings over 15 years of professional experience in cryosphere monitoring, hydrometeorology, and environmental project management.
Ms. Sonam began her career as a Geologist with the Department of Geology and Mines, and later served as Principal Hydro-Met Officer at the National Centre for Hydrology and Meteorology (NCHM). Over the years, she has led and contributed to numerous high-impact national and international projects that have strengthened Bhutan’s climate resilience and sustainable resource management efforts.
She holds a Master’s degree in Water Resources and Environmental Management from the University of Twente, the Netherlands. Ms. Sonam is deeply committed to advancing Bhutan’s environmental conservation and climate resilience goals through innovative and impactful initiatives at BTF. She is from Wangchang Gewog, Paro.
