Bhutan for Life
The Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTF) supports the Bhutan for Life (BFL) initiative through a grant of up to US$7 million under the Project Finance for Permanence (PFP) model, one of the first such programs in Asia. BTFEC releases Nu 32.5 million annually based on approved work plans, ensuring long-term conservation of protected areas and biological corridors, enhancing biodiversity, human well-being, and climate resilience.
Bhutan for Life is a legal entity established under a Royal Charter granted on 27 July 2018, providing long-term financing to achieve a robust network of Protected Areas (PA) that supports biodiversity conservation and climate adaptation. The agreement was signed in 2019, with the first tranche released for July 2019–June 2020.
