On 5 June 2026, coinciding with the World Environment Day, the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTF) marked a significant milestone with the operationalization of its programs in Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), reaffirming Bhutan’s commitment to nature-positive, climate-resilient development.
The event brought together partners and stakeholders to celebrate new collaborations, grant agreement signings, and conservation initiatives that will contribute to Bhutanโs environmental sustainability and green development goals.
๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐๐ด๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ ๐ฆ๐ถ๐ด๐ป๐ฒ๐ฑ:
1. Red Panda Tourism at Tergola, Haa- USD 49,500 grant by &Beyond through BTF for DoFPS, supporting community-based conservation tourism in one of Bhutan’s most pristine landscapes.
2. Elephant Habitat Enrichment at GMC- Nu. 2.5 million grant by Conservation International through BTF to GMC, for elephant habitat enrichment in GMC ecological corridors.
๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ง๐-๐๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ท๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐:
1. Bhutan Shingzo Ltd. at GMC- Nu. 78.76 million project to weave together forest stewardship, clean hydropower, and engineered timber into a permanent national asset for GMC’s green future.
2. Ranger Facilities Enhancement at Phibsoo Wildlife Sanctuary- Nu. 3.95 million supported to strengthen the frontline of conservation.
3. Ecotourism Feasibility Assessment for Phibsoo Wildlife Sanctuary & Royal Manas National Park- Nu. 4 million initiative to unlock conservation-based tourism and sustainable financing for communities and biodiversity.
Furthermore, the book โ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ต๐๐๐ฎ๐ปโ was launched today for which BTF provided fund support of Nu. 600,000 and was developed by the Bhutan Birdlife Society. ๐๐๐ง๐ฉ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ were also handed over to GMC to enable elephant monitoring and advance real-time conservation efforts on the ground.
