Ms. Sonam Lhamo joined the Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation as Project Specialist on 1 November 2025. She brings over 15 years of professional experience in cryosphere monitoring, hydrometeorology, and environmental project management.

Sonam began her career as a Geologist with the Department of Geology and Mines and later served as Principal Hydro-Met Officer at the National Centre for Hydrology and Meteorology (NCHM). Over the years, she has led and contributed to numerous high-impact national and international climate and environmental projects, strengthening Bhutan’s capacity for climate resilience and sustainable resource management.

She holds a Master’s degree in Water Resources and Environmental Management from the University of Twente, the Netherlands, She is deeply committed to advancing Bhutan’s environmental conservation and climate resilience goals through innovative and sustainable initiatives at BTFEC.Sonam is from Wangchang Gewog,Paro.
